The Realm of Putlog
Planer Conception: 1 B.P.
[Age of Broken Philosophy]
Animals no longer truly inhabit the world anymore, the world is run to ruination through the war that the King waged and the consequences have scared and twisted the landmasses and its people into unrecognizable cultures and nations all barely holding onto what they have left. Putlog as it is called by the primary inhabitants, all memories from a bygone age of the Reality are forgotten, Machinery no longer functional or stuck full of rust and ancient rituals by those few religious who are brave enough to claim they know how to use such machinations.
Those who try should fear though, as much of the religions of the Mantles dominate the social educate of the lands where all things old must be kept secret for fear of a new throne being made. All live in fear of the monsters that live within the Black Mist that can be entered physically which moves randomly and mysteriously across all lands. All are resigned however to the eventual journey they will take into its maw for that is the fate of those in Pultog.
Nations/Cultures
No true large nations are fully functioning, the human existence on the planet have diminished to such a degree that a large village or town would be considered one with 6 or so families that all live near each other. The effects of the throne breaking mean that all those in Putlog feel the draw to eventually go into the Black Mist each and every day. Additionally newborns are rare and often villages and towns are plagued by the unnatural as the Monsters that live within the Mist can much easier travel to the realm.
Names of groups have boiled down into abstracted names all associated with birds with thousands of small tribes roaming the lands. No recorded history is kept other then by the Owls sense the Throne was destroyed so no individual group truly knows why although many towns have their own originating reason as well as some long dead creatures they claim as their protector, all associated yet again with birds. Often each tribe will band around a mantle wearer who will be the shaman or religious leader of the group, however larger towns or cities may have more structured systems.
Vulture Culture: A mix of the remnants of those with no home or no place to live the Vulture Culture is one of living one day at a time and purely surviving in the broken ream. Vultures fight to survive and steal for food or supplies and have no real cities or towns merely roaming the lands in loose militia to take what they want from the land, or from others. Often wearing tattoos and rags with makeshift weapons Vultures are the most willing to brave the ruins of the old world for the chance of unfound relics and power. However this account as well for their dwindling number as many of these ruins hold monstrosities that have yet left.
Doves: The most plentiful of the remnants of humanity; the grove tenders of the land or what is left of it. They continue some of the old methods where they still farm and have some rare cattle and higher birth rates; however an amount of pacify has taken over the Doves much more so than other Cultures with large groups making their journeys into the Mist and the need to high large protection groups from Mercenary Groups of adventurers and warriors as most are unwilling to defend their communities.
Eagles Kingdom: A rough Kingdom being based out of the mountains where they make their homes, the group is perhaps the smallest but also the most feared in battle as well as a group that loses the least of its people to the ever constant draw of the distant Black Mist. This is primarily due to their location in the mountains where extended travel can be difficult. Despite this trained mercenaries will make their way from the Kingdom and barter their services in exchange for food and supplies for the resource barren Eagle territory.
Barony of Ravens: One of the last remnants of large society with towns and cities where the population is as high as in the thousands; the Barony of Ravens; the area that the Barony has claimed is one with numerous demands from everyday life of the common man and the Barony of Ravens is extremely diligent in making sure each of its resources is accounted for. With one of the few monetary systems left, the coinage of the Barony of Ravens is the only true currency in circulation in the realm. This keeps the Barony of Ravens the height of political power, but also the height of distrust, skulduggery, betrayal and thievery, all which cause the monsters of the Mist to pay careful attention.
Owls: Those that have retained the old knowledge and religiously keep it; often their bodies have been modified by the old technology of the world; robotics and prosthetics of all kinds. Owls do not often make their way out from the ruins of the toxic cities of old where they make their homes often guarding relics and other terrible secrets only they will ever know. On rare occasion Owls will leave their cities to become a leader of a small township; or in other cases they will be hired by a town or city to utilize their knowledge of the old ways of technology.
