The Crimson War
1 G.A. - 200 G.A.
Golden Age of Realms
After the betrayal of security forces under the influence of the Virtual Reality Cooperation (V.R.), the Inner Worlds were left defenseless as rampant traitorous A.I. took control of the vast network of planetary systems before forces could respond. The huge warp towers that had been previously built by the V.R.; to be used to supposedly create a reliable human travel network and spread the influence of the United Worlds (U.W.) on the Inner Worlds, now opened and the Crimson Empire poured out to subjugate the left over human forces.
The Armies of the Durhan and Kurlik alongside their V.R. allies washed over the Inner Worlds with only the two fleets of Star Rover and The Osiris escaping with their non-V.R. mercenary associates. The Durhan and Kurlik forces pursued a merciless war of conversion on the humans in the following dozen years of war. This proved in large part to be the undoing of the Crimson Crusades. Pockets of resistance soon grew like weeds as Crimson Empire forces found their momentum ground to a halt by unwilling human converts. This giving time for Outer Planets time to mount and grow their own fleets as well as the hugely radical Spirit Core to develop techniques to face The Taint as well as other alien allies. This in addition to the Black Mantle's crazed obsession with turning humans into his new chosen race; a race that were the closest descendants to his old ally the Crimson King would lead the Durhan stretching their own resources too thinly and relying heavily on sending mass raid parties of Kurlik to combat many of their issues.
With the sudden disappearance of the V.R. and their breakage of contract with the Crimson Empire early into the war at 45 G.A. ; their fleets disappearing into deep space and the Durhan needing to tighten their control over the Kurlik via the quelling of the Durhan Philosophy of Mechanis in favor of the Durhan Philosophy of Plaguous would lead to the revolt of the Kurlik via the hero known as The Red Eye. The Crimson War would eventually lead to a final catastrophic defeat for the Durhan at EchoLocation in a rash move of allying with The Taint and their leader Victorraven13 to replace the Black Mantle. The remaining forces of the Crimson Crusades would disband and the Durhan would admit surrender and sign the Valkyrie Accords admitting to all atrocities during the Crimson Crusades.
