Biology of the Kurlik Race
Created by the Mantles through biological engineering of the sleeping Titan Sightless Beauty, who was killed and her bones used to create their race through a similar process that the Progenitors used to make Laosu into new Progenitors from original vat technology. As such Kurlik are non-gendered and require vat technology to reproduce.
The Kurlik relates to all of the race that stayed in the Constructed Realm taking on the essence of the Brown Mantle Grower; the Kurli-Kaheth tribe of Kurlik would go into self-exile immigrating into the New Dream becoming known as the Kurlith, a related race but different from the Kurlik in their beliefs, organization and biology. The Kurlik pre-infection of the Taint have near ivory white skin, grayish hair and eyes ranging from brown to yellow, their life expectancy lasting as long as a hundred years. After their infection by the Taint their bodies took on a grayish coloration, with cancerous nodes and bumps with a darker purple black hue.
The Nature of Kurlik Khrans
Kurlik due to their innate ties and creation by the Mantles with the New Dream have a inbuilt system of empowering their race after a certain number have been born. Initially included in their DNA by the Mantles so that they might better self govern it was only recently been refound by the Kurlik Red Eye; after he found the truth that The Black Mantle had been trying to strip it form their genetic code. One in every Billion Kurlik is born with the possibility of becoming a Khran's or "Powerful Leader". Khran's are Kurlik whose innate sense of organization allows the master-hood of leadership among other Kurlik. Incredibly intelligent and savvy; they can plan the massive battles that Kurlik are known for, as well as supplying and knowing the intricacies of how to run the day to day living of Kurlik life. So in-tune with the Bio-web that they often don't even recognize their own access to it, Khrans can mobilize vast armies of Kurlik to their bidding.
History of the Kurlik Race
The Kurlik have existed since the dawn of the birth of the Constructed Realm, being major players in the Progenitor-Mantle War as well as the White Mantle War. Their race spanned hundreds of worlds before most other races even begin to explore space. However when the Peace of Green after the war Kurlik Mantle War, the Kurlik other then the tribe of Kurli-Kaheth who would journey into the New Dream, the Kurlik Confederation slowly crumbled as they as a race choose ordinary lives respecting the Treaty and care taking the natural order of life following the philosophy of the Brown Mantle Grower, soon forgetting most of their past until they were found again by the Black Mantle Giver. The Black Mantle has made sure to erase most if not all of the remaining records of the past of the Kurlik; afraid of their vengeance should they find the truth of their race and the role he played in tricking them into becoming his slaves and servants by using the Black Mantle Prophecy that he had given them eons ago to re-access his dominance over the race. As such, the following is what the race Kurlik believe to be their past:
It is said in Kurlik mythology that The Black Mantle otherwise known as The Founder found the Kurlik race when it was still young and spreading across the stars. Impressed by their race The Founder declared them the Chosen Race of the Crimson King, the savior of races from the Taint. It was not soon after that the Kurlik begin succumbing to The Taint. The Founder to combat this promised them eternal life in "The Code" and thus the Vats and Vat Priests were born and the race was forever changed.
They would begin a campaign of war across the stars bringing the message of the Crimson King with them.
After destroying many races they found the Durhan, and The Founder marveled at the new race seeing their potential to be enhanced. He declared the Durhan the new Chosen Race and begin altering their genetic makeup. Betrayal of the Kurlik soon followed. Quickly the Durhan enslaved the Kurlik using them as foot troops in their wars and mentally enslaving them to be suicide troops. It was not until the Crimson War, about a 100 years into their enslavement when the Durhan began to slowly lose ground after the VR had left their side that the Red Eye, the greatest Khran ever to exist begin his uprising. He unshackled the mental chains of the Kurlik and declared them once again the true Chosen Race of the Crimson King. He lead a revolt that would result in the freedom of his entire people and alongside the UWF the defeat of the Durhan and the end of the Crimson War. Sadly in the last battle The Red Eye died protecting Vincent Raven in his final battle against Victor Raven 13, allowing him enough time to defeat the Taint and Victor by sacrificing himself.
The Kurlik currently live on many worlds; the vast majority living under the primary Kurlik government known as The Empire of the Red Eye, continuing their fight against the Taint, as well as their war against the Durhan and their allies. However there are many unaffiliated Kurlik living under the rule of UWF, or separate organizations such as the Red Cloaks living in the Trifecta Government.
